Washingtonian Magazine dubbed the Junkies "beer-and-babes radio but with a lot of heart." John Auville (Cakes), Eric Bickel (EB), Jason Bishop (Lurch) and John-Paul Flaim (JP) host an irreverant, entertaining and cutting edge morning radio show on both 106.7 FM WJFK in DC and 105.7 FM WHFS in Baltimore. The Junkies always sound as if they're sitting and chatting -- sometimes arguing -- in the middle of bar.
 The Junkies, four childhood friends, started their broadcasting careers with a cable access TV show in Bowie, MD in August of 1995. The Junkies got their big break in 1996 when the Washington Times wrote an article about their tv show. WJFK gave them a shot on the weekends and in 1997, just one year later, the Junkies took over for the Greaseman at nights (7-11 pm) and quickly climbed to the top of the ratings.
Len Shapiro of the Washington Post wrote the Junkies "swift ascent to the top of the ratings in the Washington market has been one of the more remarkable stories in local broadcasting in recent years." In 1999 the Junkies became nationally syndicated and Sports Illustrated dubbed them "America's hot new radio show."
The Junkies moved to morning drive radio in October of 2002 on 99.1 WHFS, but after the station flipped formats in January of 2005, the Junkies returned to their roots at WJFK. The Junkies are currently heard in the morning drive slot that was occupied by Howard Stern for so many years in both DC (106.7 FM) and Baltimore (105.7 FM).
